Growing up in Africa, I was imbued with a wealth of sensory input.
The fantastical richness of colours to be found in the flora and fauna. The heady herbaceous aromas, the orchestra of nature’s sounds and musicality ,huge skies, dramatic sunsets and sun rises.
Only when I travelled abroad did I realise how steeped and saturated my psyche is, by these environmental influences. Some people have said that South Africa is like seven countries in one. It has Mediterranean, tropical, sub-tropical areas, savannah, deserts, Afromontane, and temperate zones. Such riches, a wellspring of atmosphere.
